Stamford's Trudy Bates Team In action against local rivals Grantham
Stamford’s women bowlers were given a boost with the defeat of neighbours Grantham in the Lincs League (Trudy Bates) southern section.
They claimed 12 of the 14 points at stake in a 94-61 shots win with Sue Moir’s rink of Rosemary Roberts, Janet Lonslow and Elizabeth Wallace taking the individual honours. They led 16-0 after six ends and added two more five counts to win 39-8.

Deadline of February 23 is approaching for entries to be received for the Presidents Charity Triples tournament to be staged at Stamford IBC on Saturday, March 2, with 9.30 and 10.30 a.m. starts.
So far 13 teams have entered, with room for a maximum of 24.
Forms are available at the club with a cost of £15 per team, with four matches of six ends guaranteed. Cash prizes are awarded with points awarded for games and ends won.
The event aims to raise money for The Evergreen Trust.
With a thrilling finish, Adam Warrington (Blackstones) reached the semi-final of the Northants Federation singles, defeating Neil Wright 21-20.
Trailing 14-19, Wright levelled the scores at 20-20 and ditched the jack only for Warrington to draw within inches to claim a last four spot against Jim Pryor who beat Stuart Agger 21-15. John Holroyd faces Paul Dalliday (Parkway) a 21-20 winner over Tom Newman (Whittlesey Manor), in the other semi.
In the semi-finals Warrington beat Jim Pryor (Langtoft) 21-16, while Dalliday, finally shook off John Holroyd 21-13 after a close battle in the initial stages.
Adam Warrington (Blackstones) will now play Paul Dalliday (Parkway) in what promises to be a thrilling final of the Northants Federation men’s singles on February 25. Both play their indoor bowls at Stamford IBC - venue for the finals - so will be used to the carpet conditions.
In the seniors event semi-final Martyn Dolby (Blackstones) and Bob Warters (Ketton) - who will celebrate their respective 76th birthdays on March 17 & 18 - were tied at the midway stage before Dolby pulled away to win 21-11. His opponent in the final will be either Jeff Pitt or Mick Linnell.
The county finals will be staged at Stamford IBC on February 25.
Recording their fourth successive win, Stamford Seniors narrowed the gap on Lincs Over 60s League (South) leaders Lincoln to 20 points by comprehensively defeating bottom of the table Boston ‘B’.
Every rink performed strongly towards the end to ensure maximum points with Kevin Vinter’s four of Graham Patrickson, Ian Hall and Martin Hewitt taking the honours after taking a 15-shot lead after seven ends.
Keith Rippin’s quartet ended with a five-count while Roger Martin’s added eight shots in the last four ends.
Making a promising debut were Paul Shaw and Alfie Hynes, contributing to a comeback win with Jeff Bourne and Bob Warters.

Four Stamford bowlers made a major contribution to Lincolnshire’s 140-103 defeat of Leicestershire in the Midland Counties Over 55 fixture at Grantham.
John Suffling, Mike Ramsden, John Holroyd and Tony Scarr won 30-11 as Lincs picked up 16 points from a possible 22 with three winning rinks.
