Congratulations to Stamford Indoor Bowls Club member Michele Carter, who has been recognised nationally for her charity work in raising funds for the Cambridge Fire and Rescue Service for over 30 years.
She won the prestigious Spirit of Fire award at a virtual ceremony held by the Fire Fighters charity which was introduced in a recorded message by HRH the Duke of Cambridge.
Winning the Supporter of the Year award (Retired), Michele organised keep fit classes and generally raised awareness of the work of her local fire brigade.
The event is usually held in London with a reception at No.10 Downing Street, but Covid-19 restrictions prevented it this year.
Fire Fighters charity chief executive Dr Jill Tolfrey commented: " I am delighted for Michele who has been recognised for her lifelong support. She is truly an ambassador of the charity in Cambridgeshire, also devoting her time as a welfare volunteer."
