Quick Recovery by 'A' Team

Following their demolition at Spalding, Stamford IBC’s men’s ‘A’ team recovered to capture 14 points from the visit of Grantham, securing a 97-60 victory across four rinks.

The drama extended to the final end when skip Chris Ballard drew second shot to a ditched jack to claim an unlikely maximum points (23-22) after his rink of Owen and Wayne Aspinall and Derek Veasey had trailed 4-17 after 13 ends.

Elsewhere Brian Allen made a promising debut for Adam Warrington in their 30-5 win on the unpredictable rink 2, while despite no time to practise, Dusty Miller and Jon Earl combined with Keith Rippin and Mike Ramsden to hang on for a narrow victory over the irrepressible Joe Lewis.
