Bowlers face local rivals in Plate Competition
In a bid to match their best performance, when they reached the quarter-finals of the Denny Plate in 2015, Stamford take on local rivals Boston on Saturday (10 am).
Two rinks of four play home and away simultaneously in a re-shuffled side with the aggregate score earning a place in the third round against either Skegness or Lincoln Dunholme on December 7. Earlier Boston beat Sleaford 107-61.

Following their defeat of Sleaford in the women’s national inter-club Yetton Trophy, Stamford lost 76-67 to Boston.
Senior double header
Stamford seniors are in action on both Tuesday and Wednesday - firstly in the Over 60 double-rink, then in the Lincs League (South) at home to Spalding.

OBITUARY NOTICE
Stamford IBA is sad to report the death of former club president, Tony Freeman (90). He was a former captain of the Over 60s team in the Lincolnshire League as well as of the weekend friendlies.
He died following a fall at his home in Market Overton, where he was president of the bowls club in 1999 and was a leading advocate for it joining the Stamford and District (Outdoor) League.
Funeral arrangements will be advised when known.

Ballard lone winner
Not much joy for local bowlers in EIBA national competitions, though Chris Ballard captured the scalp of Spalding’s Ean Morton 21-15 in the singles to earn a home tie with Kevin Ekins (Spalding). However. Ean together with his brother got his revenge against Ballard, who was partnered by Jeff Pitt whn they beat them by 2 sets to nil in the new Open Pairs National Competition at Stamford
Tom Newman-Borret lost to Nathan Dunnington (Boston) and in the champion of champions Neil Wright was beaten 21-12 by Matt Lever at Grantham.
In the Over 60s pairs John Holroyd and Kevin Vinter lost by one shot to Boston’s Paul Flatters and Rod West. Bob Warters & Martyn Dolby were defeated 17-11 by Richard Barnes & Trevor Bannister at Sleaford.
Mixed at Sleaford
Stamford’s Mixed team will be hoping to continue their good form in the Lincs League (South) when they visit Sleaford on November 30 (12.30pm).

DEADLINES APPROACH
Deadlines are fast approaching for two internal competitions at Stamford IBC.
November 29 has been set for club competition entries, including two new events - Australian pairs and 4-bowl novice pairs - with finals on April 5 & 6.
On Saturday December 28, the club stages its annual Christmas Open Fours gala with £300 prizemoney. Teams of four (£20), four 7-end matches guaranteed.
NEW CLUB COLOURS
After much consideration, Stamford IBC members have voted for a new club shirt to be introduced next season.
Every member had the chance to submit ideas and after a special committee had been formed to whittle down the contenders, members have had the chance to vote for their favourite design.
