Stephen Harris (24), who plays his domestic league bowls at Stamford IBC, while playing his county and national competitions out of the Spalding club, won both his crucial singles in the semi-final and final of the Top Club event at Nottingham, delayed because of the pandemic.

He won 21-3 and 21-12 against Egham and St Neots respectively as the mixed Spalding team - playing men's and women's singles, mixed pairs, triples and fours - retained the title they won in 2019.

Earlier Stephen's sister Louise and Stamford clubmates Helen Holroyd and Katie Bailey, were key members of the Lincolnshire women's team which won the coveted inter-county Atherley Trophy.

Louise was part of Chelsea Tomlin's rink that won 32-9, while Holroyd (No.2) helped skip Bailey to a 22-16 rink win in an overall 40-shot demolition of Sussex, who included former Stamford bowler Pam Barton in their ranks.

FOOTNOTE: This week Stephen Harris contests the EIBA pairs with Spaldjng clubmate Graham Smith, before switching to Newark IBC to play in the Federation pairs (with Wayne Morris), mixed triples ( with John and Moira Holroyd) and Under 25 singles. He is also a member of the Northants team which defends the Derbyshire Trophy inter-county championship on Saturday.
