Pictured above members of both 'A' & 'B' teams intermingled together showing club camaraderie.
Having already beaten Boston ‘A’ at home, they repeated thsfu 12-2 victory winning on three of the four rinks in a 99-60 score line. Club bragging rights were a bonus.
The quartet of Wayne Aspinall, Brian Allen, David Oakey - recently moved into the area from Isca in Devon - and Trevor Collins, took the rink honours with a 33-9 victory developed from an earlier 25-2 lead.
Elsewhere, skips Adam Warrington and Mick Linnell confirmed the victory with respective 27-11 and 21-14 wins.
The bright light in what was otherwise a gloomy result, came for the ‘B’ team with the performance of Ron Blake, Dave Morgan, Neil Crees and Dennis Henshaw. They led 22-7 at one stage but had to withstand a comeback from Roger Martin’s rink before finally running out 26-18 winners.

But new captain Kevin Vinter can take credit for introducing players to gain valuable experience.
Indeed Vinter’s rink almost snatched a point but two late doubles just failed to earned a point, while Mick Linnell’s rink let a 16-9 lead after 14 of the 18 ends, slip.

Despite last year's champions of Margaret & Derek King with Shirley & John Suffling not qualifying for the knock out rounds their opponents in last year's of Valerie & Richard Allam with Eileen Purvis & Janet Lonslow did qualify but their hopes to improve on last year were sadly dashed in the first knock out round.
However, two Stamford teams did progress to the quarter final stages including Chris Ballard's rink which included Tony Barwell, Keith Rippin & Jeff Pitt which had looked strong until underperforming to a strong Nottingham rink skipped by Dave Adams.
This progress whilst contributing to the club trophy success was out done by the rink of Jeanette and Jeff Bourne together with Dave Edwards and Alison Lea who took revenge on Dave Adam's rink in the semis to reach the final against another Nottingham rink,
The final was a closely fought encounter with the lead changing hands over the first few ends but on the fifth end having only been a single shot down the Stamford rink were unfortunate in moving the jack to lose 4 shots whilst attempting to shuffle the bowls to their advantage. With thee game only being played over 8 ends the task was then a difficult one and they gamely battled on and pulled back some shots but not enough to force a tie break.
Their success in being the losing finalist was sufficient to ensure Stamford were top dogs against stiff competition from clubs including Nottingham, Bassetlaw, Colchester & others.

Following their opening defeat, Stamford’s mixed team will be hoping to grab Lincs League points at Grantham on Saturday.
