MORE THAN a dozen potential new bowlers answered the club's call to try the sport at the season's first Open Morning on Saturday at which coaches and experienced players were on hand to offer advice and encouragement.

Many of the newcomers used some of the new coloured bowls, anonymously donated to the club to get a feel for the game.

Said one:"I have played other sports but never this one. Once you get the hang of the feel of the bowl, the correct delivery and make sure the bias is on the correct side of course, it is quite addictive. I shall be back to take up the regular Saturday morning coaching sessions."

Saturday sessions for both adults and children at the club's indoor stadium off Exeter Gardens are available from 9.30 am to noon and are open to anyone keen to take up indoor bowls. A nominal fee of £3 is charged but equipment is provided free of charge.
