After losing to Barwell in the Denny Cup, Stamford men must immediately recover their form by taking on Grantham in the Denny Plate on Saturday (November 9) at 10am, for first time losers in the national inter-club knockout.

Their side shows a handful of last minute changes from that against Barwell and with European outdoor gold medallist Tristan Morton sidelined by work commitments, team captain Paul Bailey aims to overcome a back injury as one of the replacements.

Also returning are Richard Allam, Mick Humphreys and Tony Scarr in a re-figured home rink with Roger Martin while Martyn Dolby takes his regular four to Grantham.

Team: home - Wayne Aspinall, Chris Ballard, Paul Bailey, James Harford; Richard Allam, Mick Humphreys, Tony Scarr, Roger Martin. Away - Dave Hudson, Mick Linnell, Peter Edwards, Martin Dolby; Paul Dalliday, Bob Warters, Trevor Collins, Simon Law. BW

HARRIS SIBLINGS PICKED FOR ENGLAND TRIALS

Stamford-based bowlers Stephen Harris and his sister Louise have been selected to take part in trials for England teams to compete in the home international matches against Wales, Scotland and Ireland in February and March 2020.

As well as the Under 25 trials on December 1, Stephen (22), will represent Spalding IBC, in the Senior trials for the first time on November 30. Both events take place at Rugby Thornfield IBC.

Last year, making his Under 25 debut in Aberdeen, he was nominated England player of the series.

He will be joined in the senior trials by Spalding colleagues, Graham Smith, Matt Whyers, Martin Spencer and Matt Orrey - all established England internationals. Clubmate Jordan Philpott joins him in the Under 25 trials.

For Louise (21) it's a first recognition by the Under 25 selectors, having won the Lincolnshire indoor triples for Stamford (with Elizabeth Wallace and Katie Bailey) earlier this year - the first women's title in the club's history. BW
