The local bowls fraternity were shocked on Wednesday (December 11) by the sudden death of Peter Edwards, former president of both the Stamford Indoor Bowls Club and the Ketton outdoor bowls club.

The former table tennis player, footballer and cricketer (77) was a founder member of the indoor club with his wife Glenys and represented the club regularly since its formation in 1990.

He also played for Lincs IBA and the Northants Bowling Federation, winning many titles - outdoors and indoors - and reaching national finals weeks at both Skegness and Newark.

On behalf of the club we send our condolences to Glenys, their family and friends.

Peter's funeral service will be held at Marholm Crematorium on Tuesday, January 14 (10.30 am) followed by a thanksgiving service at St Mary church, Ketton at noon.
