Egham team named to face Melton

Stamford will take on Leicestershire neighbours Melton in the first round of the national mixed team competition for the Egham Trophy on October 27 (10 am).

The team includes mother and daughter Moira and Helen Holroyd, both playing in the home leg. Aggregate shots home and away will determine who Gaines through to the next round against either Barwell or Charnwood.

Home: Jan Want, Helen Holroyd, Peter Edwards, Martyn Dolby; Moira Holroyd, Bob Warters, Katie Bailey, Adam Warrington.

Away: Elizabeth Wallace, Shirley Suffling, Jon Earl, Tris Morton; Mick Humphreys, Sue Moir, Chris Ford, Roger Martin.

TOP CLUB TEAM SELECTED

Stamford IBC has selected its team for the Top Club competition at Nottingham on October 20 (10 am).

Last year the club beat Bedford and Kettering before losing to Kingsthorpe (Northampton).

Team: Singles - Paul Dalliday and Helen Holroyd; mixed fours - Elizabeth Wallace, Shirley Suffling, James Harford and Tris Morton; mixed triples - Adam Warrington, Christine Ford & Simon Law; mixed pairs - Katie Bailey & Martyn Dolby.

NORTHANTS TEAMS CLASH IN DERBYSHIRE TROPHY

Northants Bowling Federation's A team begin their defence of the coveted national inter-county Derbyshire Trophy on Sunday (October 13) with an opening match against Northants B at Peterborough IBC.

The surface will be more familiar to the B team players which should make the tie a real challenge for the champions, most of whom play their indoor bowls on the pacier Stamford carpet.

Players are reminded that the Perkins-sponsored Great Eastern half marathon is taking place from 10.30 am around city streets which may effect access to the Burton Street venue, so bowlers are requested to arrive early for the 10 am start via Reeves Way and Padholme Road.
