Getting Back to Bowls

APPEAL FOR SUMMER INDOOR BOWLERS

Stamford Indoor Bowls Clubs, based in Exeter Gardens, has confirmed it will start its summer leagues from Monday, May 17.

But a virtual meeting of organisers has stressed that it needs a minimum of six teams per league to be viable and captains should form their teams and contact the league secretary John Holroyd without delay to confirm participation. Potential new members can also register their interest.

Leagues for three-bowl triples will be staged over two-hour sessions on Monday and Friday evenings and Wednesday mornings, with a four-bowl pairs league starting at 1pm on Tuesdays. It is hoped a maximum of 12 teams per league will be generated.

Social roll-ups will still be held on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10 am on May 17.

The club is still awaiting guidance from the game's governing body, the English Indoor Bowling Association as to regulations on social, distancing, masks and sanitizing.

Players for all sessions should hold full 2020-21 membership alternatively a summer league subscription of £27.50 should be paid before the first session.

Rink fees should be paid by debit card or by cash, preferably per team.

For further information and to register (teams and newcomers) contact league secretary John Holroyd by April 17 by email bowls@holroydstructural.co.uk or by telephone 07531 989500.

COUNTY NEWS

The Lincolnshire Indoor Bowls Association (LIBA) will be carrying over competition entries from the 2020/21 season to 2021/22. New entries can however be accepted and should be sent to Bob Warters at bob.warters@btinternet.com by 30th April 2021. Further details can be found HERE.

Unfortunately it will not now be possible to play the finals from the unfinished 2019/20 season due to limitations on the time available.

The LIBA are planning to play the normal county league fixtures on a home and away basis but for 2021/22 limiting it to four rinks and splitting the leagues into geographical divisions to limit the travelling. The position on meals will depend on what facilities each club can provide.
