STAMFORD 'A' TO FACE SLEAFORD.

In the first Division of the Lincs Men's League Stamford A face a home match against Sleaford on Saturday January 5 (2pm).

It will be an opportunity to firmly extend the gap between themselves and champions Lincoln A at the top of the table.

Earlier in the season Stamford picked up all but two of the 18 points on offer with 105-82 win at Sleaford.

NORTHANTS B CHASE FIRST WIN

Northants Bowling Federation's B team return to their indoor inter-county Derbyshire Trophy campaign on Sunday (January 6) with a home match at Peterborough IBC against North Cambs (10 am).

Despite recently earning their respective 200 and 100 county match ties, Malcolm Squires and Les Sharp step aside to make way for the return of Helen Holroyd and Peter Brown.

The squad is: Helen Holroyd, Cliff Watson, Peter Brown, Brian Bassam, Dick Noble, Graham Agger, Richard Allam, John Holroyd, Jon Earl, Ray Keating, Mick Greaves, Mick Linnell.

After three defeats, Northants B currently prop up the southern section table but will be hoping for a suitable return from their fellow strugglers.

Northants A are currently top with 29 points - six ahead of Hunts who have a game in hand. Their next fixture is a must-win match at Stamford against Lincs on February 17.

SCARR THROUGH IN SINGLES

Tony Scarr has reached the next round of the Over 60 singles with a 21-9 defeat of Spalding's John Needham.
