Stamford IBC bowler John Pearson has taken on the role of secretary of the Lincolnshire Indoor Bowling Association. He succeeds Spalding's Graham Smith, the England international and Liberty Trophy captain who takes over the role of competition and league secretary.

Pearson, who lives in Bourne, and is also county friendlies co-ordinator and a qualified coach, was appointed at the annual meeting at Lincoln IBC, when the club's Martin McGowan was elected president and Phil Lowe, county treasurer.

On behalf of the Stamford club, David Heffernan (pictured right) received almost £400 in prize money from county sponsor, the Lincolnshire Co-op, following Stamford victories in men's second division and Over 60s Division Two (Heffernan was captain) as well as runner-up cash for the men's first division and the mixed league second division.

SAINTS AND BULLS SHARE BRAGGING RIGHTS...AGAIN!

Stamford's two competitors in the English Indoor 'Fantastic Fives' League - Saints and Bulls - shared the bragging rights again when they faced each other for the second time.

Saints won the singles and fours but later conceded the pairs and triples, sharing the eight points overall - and, amazingly, 72 shots!

Jan Want gave the Saints a flying start by beating Alan Romaine 14-8 in the singles before David Howarth, Jeannette and Jeff Bourne and Rose March beat June Brennan, Glenys and Peter Edwards and Tony Barlow 11-5 in the rinks contest.

Determined to regain the initiative Romaine and Barwell took the pairs 9-3 before the Edwards' with Brennan at lead, claimed five shots in the last two ends to win the triples 14-8.

Saints face a trip to Church Gresley on Saturday (July 27) with Bulls' final trip to Charnwood yet to be arranged.
