Entry forms for the 2019-20 Lincolnshire Indoor Bowling Association championships qualifying rounds are now available for Stamford IBC members, either from reception or to be downloaded at the foot of this article.

The Stamford club has built a reputation as second only to Lincoln IBC, one of the country's largest clubs, in generating county competition entries and therefore gaining maximum places in the knock-out rounds among the ten other clubs in the county.

Entry for individual competitions including men's singles, sets singles, Over 60s Open and under 25s Open is £1 with the same sum for each player in the men's pairs, triples and fours and the mixed pairs.

Members are asked to complete the form, sign it and with appropriate money, place in a an envelope/ plastic bank bag in the grey safe behind reception by April 20.

At the start of the next winter season in September players will be drawn in the various disciplines and will play-off internally at Stamford down to the number of qualifying places allocated by the county based on entries received.

At present the sets singles discipline is a men only competition. However, Stamford has made representation to the county management committee that this should become open to both men and women from September 2019. If this is accepted, members will be advised accordingly and invited to take part at the 'in-house' qualifying stage.

WOMEN'S TRIPLE REACH COUNTY FINALS

Stamford IBC will have guaranteed representatives at the final of the Lincs men's and women indoor finals at Boston on April 28 - after a women's triple won their semi-final at Sleaford.

Louise Harris, skip Katie Bailey and stand-in lead Elizabeth Wallace (for unavailable Helen Holroyd) beat a Lincoln rink of Jenna Earl, Sheila Cliffe and Maureen Wilson 22-18.

The Stamford trio started slowly but gradually got a grip of the Sleaford surface and a five shot count at the midway point put them in a lead they never relinquished.

In the pairs June Brennan and Christine Ford put up a fighting performance against England internationals from Spalding Ruby Hill and Chelsea Tomlin and held two shots at 20-20 on the 19th end until Tomlin drove the jack for a five count the Stamford duo were unable to recover.

FOTONOTE: Ford competes in the Open senior singles semi-finals on Saturday at Horncastle against Trevor Bannister (Sleaford) for a place in the final.
