A devastating late burst of scoring by Spalding pitched Stamford bowlers head-long out of the Denny Cup English inter-club championship by 109-61 on Saturday.

Stamford had hoped to repeat their earlier success in the Lincs League but their rivals were in no mood to capitulate so easily and from the 15th end of the 21-end match - two rinks at Stamford, two at Spalding IBC - it was almost one-way traffic, with Spalding claiming 51 shots to a mere 15 in the last 11 ends.

The only rink to emerge with real credit were the home quartet of Alan Romaine, Wayne Morris, Martin Bailey and Adam Warrington who beat Simon Lilley's rink 24-19.
