It was another Goode night from him and Goode night from her, with captain Maggie Holden in between, see photo, as the pair (with Herr Capitan) scooping the best rink prize yet again. How they keep doing it is a mystery to us all, apart from Reg who puts it down to him shouting instructions, even though he is lead (it’s not the lead’s job Reg) to Jill every time before she bowls a wood, but Jill puts it down to doing exactly the opposite to what he tells her This time their success was in our return, at home, match against Melton. The ‘Pork Pies’ had pulverised us at their place, but on our own ‘muck heap’, as they say up north, we marmalised them with what we think was probably the biggest win in the history of our weekend friendlies 123-67, and we won on every rink, and we had four newcomers in our ranks. Welcome and well done to Eileen Purvis, Dave Edwards, and Peter and Carolyn Gray.

Rink scores: Reg Goode, Maggie Holden won 23-8; Jenny Desborough, Eileen Purvis, Ken White won 17-14; Janet Childs, Peter Gray, Adrian Childs won 22-11; Linda Cave, Ann Preston Bambridge, Nigel Trigg won 20-7; Colin Burgess, Carolyn Gray, Derek Cave won 25-14.
