Stamford bowlers face an English Area 6 final against Scunthorpe in the Over 60s fours competition on January 13 (6.30pm) after a 12-end, 20-2 demolition of rivals Boston.

Skipped by Martyn Dolby and chiefly thanks to a five count on the second end, Bob Warters, Peter Edwards and Roger Martin joined him to race into an 11-0 lead from which Les Feary's rink never recovered. A three count on the 12th end and Boston conceded.

Dolby and Stephen Harris reached the Area 6 final of the pairs, when Spalding's Dawson brothers conceded the match.

Twenty four rinks are set to battle it out in the annual Stamford IBC Christmas tournament on December 29 (from 9.30am), for a £160 prize fund donated by brewers Molson Coors.

Stamford Over 60s head the Lincs Second Division table following a 113-56 defeat of Skegness B, earning them 16 points to take them two points ahead of Skegness A who have a game in hand.

Leading the home charge were rinks skipped by Richard Martin and Dennis Henshaw who won 27-8 and 28-11 respectively. There were also wins for Kevin Vinter and Alex March.
