A third successive defeat leaves Stamford Men’s B team firmly entrenched towards the bottom of the Lincs IBA Division Two table. But four points banked at Dunholme leaves hope for improvement.
With the Stamford A team yet to fulfil a Division One fixture, John Suffling’s gutsy team carry the club’s flag and on a rare visit to Dunholme’s blue carpets, two rink wins were a welcome bonus in a 14-shot defeat overall.
A three count on the last end proved crucial for the combination of Mike Ramsden - returning after shoulder surgery - Suffling, Bill Orme and John Pearson in a 16-13 win.
And Peter Smith’s rink of George Clarke, Alistair Patterson and Ron Blake could afford to drop five on the last end and still win by three.
