Saute / brown together:
1 lb. Italian sausage (bulk type or removed from casings)
1 onion, chopped
2 stalks of celery, sliced
1 carrot, grated or sliced thin
1 clove garlic, minced
Add:
4 cans beef broth
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can Rotel tomatoes with green chilies
2 cans Great Northern beans, with juice
2 cans kidney beans, drained
1 tsp. Kitchen Bouquet browning sauce
1 envelope/pkg. dry spaghetti sauce mix
1 tsp. sugar
1/2-1 tsp. Italian seasoning (optional)
1/2 tsp. dried parsley
1/2 cup small shaped pasta
salt and pepper to taste
Simmer to blend flavors.
This makes a large quantity so it's good for a family gathering or potluck. Works well in a crock pot and freezes well.
