Skills

Skills represent a character's training in certain subjects, or innate knowledge in areas. Skills also reflect proficiency in using certain techniques (such as Persuasion or Stealth). Each skill listed below will have short descriptions on when and how they're used.

Skills are rolled like this: 1d20 + Ability Associated + Skill Ranks + Misc. Bonuses - Armor Penalty (if applicable)

Taking 5 can be done in combat and/or when time is important. This represents taking a below average result and hoping your skills are enough to carry the day.

Taking 10 represents taking an average result and double checking yourself to make sure your results are right and can only be done outside of combat and when time isn't of the most importance.

Taking 20 represents thoroughly checking yourself to make sure you've done all you can to succeed, and can only be done outside of combat. This takes 20 times as long as a normal time for a skill (ex: taking 2 minutes for a skill that's normally 1 round or less).

Additional skill ranks not granted by class (except when spent on Knowledge skills) costs 1 EXP. Knowledge skills grant you 2 skill ranks instead of 1 for every 1 EXP put into the skill.

Skill Limit: Characters can possess a number of ranks in a skill equal to 2 + the tens digit of their total amount of EXP spent (ex: a character starting off with the standard 20 EXP has a limit of 4 ranks in each skill).
