Duel of Wits

Social HP: 10 + Highest Mental Stat (Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma)

Defense: A character's Social Defense is calculated the same way as their Will Defense, save that their Mental Ability score changes depending on if the character is using Logic, Reason, or Emotional Appeal as their Defense form.

Characters choose an Attack form and a Defense form at the beginning of combat (writing it down to themselves, and revealing it at the same time as the other player or GM). Afterwards, checks are made vs. the Defense. If a character exceeds the target's Defense by 5 or more, their Social Defense takes a -2 penalty for the rest of the Duel of Wits.

Actions: Actions have capabilities in both offense and defense, however their various uses determine how well they'll fair as an offensive or defensive tactic.

When making an attack, roll a d20 + (associated mental stat) vs. the opposed Social Defense.

Logic: Characters who use Logic as their form of attack or defense use Intelligence, and receive a +2 bonus on attack and defense vs. Emotional Appeal.

Reason: Characters who use Reason as their form of attack or defense use Wisdom, and receive a +2 bonus on attack and defense vs. Logic.

Emotional Appeal: Characters who use Emotional Appeal as their form of attack or defense use Charisma, and receive a +2 bonus on attack and defense vs. Reason.
