Manakete

Manakete

Manaketes who choose to transform into their powerful dragon forms are seen as 'true bloods' despite the fact that Manaketes who don't tread this path have no difference in their blood relation.

HP & Defenses

Manaketes possess a d12 Hit Die, and they start the game with 80 Hit Points (plus double Constitution and other modifiers). By spending 3 XP the Manakete can gain a Hit Die, increasing their Hit Points accordingly.

They also receive a +1 bonus to Fortitude Defense, Reflex Defense, and Will Defense.

Stat Bonuses

Manaketes receive a +1 bonus to one of the following attributes; Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma.

Increasing these attributes outside of character creation is done at a discount (10 XP per increase instead of 20 XP)

Attack Bonus

Manaketes receive a +2 Attack Bonus.

By spending 5 XP the Manakete can increase their Attack Bonus by +2, to a maximum of +12.

Skill Points

Manaketes receive 1 rank in the following skills at character creation;

  • Acrobatics

  • Awareness

  • Deception

  • Knowledge (Magic, Dark Magic, History, and Religion)

  • Persuasion

  • Spellcraft

  • Use Magic Device

Starting Feats

Manaketes receive the following starting feats;

Dragonstone

Manaketes are specially trained in the usage of dragonstones, stones which harbor their hidden power. This dragonstone allows them to transform into a dragon until the end of an encounter. While transformed the Manakete's size changes to Huge and they acquire a bite attack (2d6), two claw attacks (1d8), two wing attacks (1d8), and a tail slap (2d6). All of these deal damage appropriate to the Manakete's current size. They also receive a fly speed equal to 6 squares, a +5 natural armor bonus to Reflex Defense, and a 6 sq. ranged attack which deals 3d6 energy damage where the energy type is the one chosen at character creation from the Manakete species.

Natural attacks while in this form bypass DR/Magic, and their ranged attack is a magical attack which uses Charisma for to-hit and damage in place of physical attributes.

After transforming into this form, the Manakete requires at least 1d4 minutes worth of rest before they can transform into their draconic form once more. If they choose to transform anyways, they are Fatigued while in their draconic form and once they transform back their Fatigue transforms into Exhaustion until they receive a full 8 hours rest.

Due to the nature of this class, only Manaketes can select it.

Draconic Magic

Manaketes have some latent magical power from their draconic blood. They are counted as a spellcaster as per Mage, receiving a free 1 XP arcane spell they can cast. They must use their Charisma for their casting attribute however.
