Vigilante

Vigilantes use their cunning and ability to blend into society to fight their opponents.

HP & Defenses

Vigilantes possess a d8 Hit Die, and they start the game with 40 Hit Points (plus double Constitution and other modifiers). By spending 3 XP the Vigilante can gain a Hit Die, increasing their Hit Points accordingly.

They also receive a +2 bonus to Reflex Defense and Will Defense.

Stat Bonuses

Vigilantes receive a +1 bonus to one of the following attributes; Dexterity, Intelligence, or Charisma.

Increasing these attributes outside of character creation is done at a discount (10 XP per increase instead of 20 XP)

Attack Bonus

Vigilantes receive a +1 Attack Bonus.

By spending 5 XP the Vigilante can increase their Attack Bonus by +1, to a maximum of +10.

Skill Points

Vigilantes receive 1 rank in the following skills at character creation;

  • Acrobatics

  • Awareness

  • Deception

  • Knowledge (Dungeons, Humanoids, and Religion)

  • Linguistics

  • Persuasion

  • Stealth

Vigilante Identity

Vigilantes have an identity they separate from themselves; an identity to fight crime or other for other such causes. They can enter this identity at the beginning of combat as a free action, or out of combat any time. Vigilantes typically only spend time as their alter ego when necessary, and while not in their identity they needn't make Deception checks to lie in regards to their Vigilante identity (for example, if someone asks if they were a witness to a crime, and they were but only in their identity, they needn't roll to lie and say they hadn't, as it was the alter ego who saw the crime, not them).

Vigilantes receive a +5 bonus to Deception checks, and this bonus is doubled when attempting to put on a disguise.

While not in their Vigilante identity, they add their Intelligence as a competence bonus to Deception, and while in their Vigilante identity they add their Charisma as a competence bonus to Stealth.

Escape from Danger

Vigilantes receive a bonus to their Reflex Defense equal to their Intelligence while in their Vigilante identity, and a bonus to their Will Defense equal to their Charisma while not in their Vigilante identity.
