Kheel ke Appe / Tasty Healthy Appe made with left over festival Kheel
Festival season is over and we are left with some of the festival things and eatables . Kheel is used in the festival quite often , it is puffed rice so many tasty dishes can be made with it as it is light and healthy . you can make cutlets , upma , bhel and of course appe . This recipe of appe is very easy , quick and tasty .
COOKING TIME 25 minutes SERVES 4
INGREDIENTS
Kheel 3 cups
Suji 1 cup
carrot 1 grated [ any vegetable can be used onion , beans cabbage ]
tadka 1 tbs oil , 1/2 tsp mustard seeds , green chilly 1 cut finely , kadi patta 5-6
salt as per taste , water to make batter
METHOD OF MAKING KHEEL APPE / HOW TO MAKE TASTY , QUICK APPE WITH KHEEL
soak kheel in the water for 7-8 minutes .
after soaking , squeeze out from the water and blend them in the mixie with 1- 2 tbs water
take out from the mixie in a broad pan .
add suji to the blended kheel .
grate 1 carrot and add it to the mixture . you can add vegetable of your choice .
mix every thing . add salt as per taste .
make a tadka . for this heat 1tbs oil , when it is hot add mustard seeds and green chilly cut finely . add kadi patta also cut into small pieces .
put this tadka over kheel suji mix .
mix everything and add water slowly to make thick batter .
leave for 5-7 minutes .
heat appe pan on slow gas .
coat with oil with a brush .
fill each appe mould with the batter .
cover it .
after 5-7 minutes , you will find the corners done and the top layer thick .
coat top layer with oil and check if they are done at the bottom one by one .
turn them over and cook for 5 minute from the other side also .
kheel appe are ready .

STEP BY STEP OF MAKING KHEEL KE APPE
soak kheel in the water for 7-8 minutes .
squeeze them out and blend it in the mixie with 1-2 tbs water .
take it out in a broad pan .
add suji to it and mix it .
grate carrot or any other vegetable . put it in the kheel suji mixture .
add salt . make a tadka . heat 1tbs oil , when it is hot add mustard seeds and green chilly cut finely . add 5-6 kadipatta cut in small pieces in the tadka .
take off the gas and mix in the mixture .
add very little water to make thick batter .
heat appe pan on slow gas and coat the moulds with oil .
fill each mould with thick batter and cover .
after 6-7 minutes check if the corners are little brownish and the top layer is thick .
coat top layer with the oil and turn each mould batter to cook again . the centre moulds are done early .
cover again and cook for 5 minutes more .
take out and enjoy any time of the day .
