Aloo Idly / Quick Instant potato Idly
Rava or suji idly is a quick , tasty and nutritious breakfast . Generally we add carrot , beans or any other veagetable to give more taste to it . But sometimes you do not have any veggie at home so potato is the best option . Potato idly is very easy to make . With only a few ingredients , it comes out very tasty and filling .
COOKING TIME 30 minutes SERVES 4
INGREDIENTS
Potato 1 meduim raw
Suji 1 cup
Curd 2 tbs , green chilly 2 , salt , eno 1/2 tsp , oil 2 tbs , sarson 1/2 tsp , curry patta 6-7 ,
METHOD OF MAKING POTATO IDLY
Peel the potato and grate it .
Put grated potato in the mixie . Put 2 green chilly with the grated potato
Put 1/3 cup water and make puree with grated potato and green chilly .
Take 1 cup suji in a bowl .
Add salt and 2 tbs curd .
Add potato puree also from the mixie to suji .
Mix all the things . Add water to make idly consistency .
Keep aside for 10 minutes .
After 10 minutes , coat idly stand with oil .
Check the batter, if it is thick add little water more .
Put 1/2 tsp eno in the batter .
Put 1.5 tbs batter in each mold .
Steam for 8 - 10 minutes .
Check with a fork or knife if it comes out clean , it is done. If not steam for 2 minutes more .
Switch off the gas and let it remain for 5 minutes .
Take out in a plate .
Put 1.5 tbs oil in a pan .
When it is hot put 1/2 tsp sesame seeds and 1 green chilly cut in half .
When it crackles , sim the gas and add kadi leaves .
Roast for 1 minute and add idlies .
Coat and roast from both the sides for 2 minutes on sim gas .
Aloo idly is ready .
Enjoy tasty aloo idly any time of the day .
STEP BY STEP HOW TO MAKE ALOO IDLY
Take 1 meduim size raw potato and grate it .
Put grated potato in the mixie with 2 greenchillies . Put 1/3 cup water also .
Make a puree of potato and green chillies .
Take 1 cup suji in a bowl . Add salt and 2 tbs curd .
Add potato puree also . Mix well .
Mix water also to make idly type batter . Keep aside for 10 minutes .
Coat sections of idly stand with oil .
Check the consistency of the batter , if it is thick add some more water .
Add 1/2 tsp eno in the batter .
Put 1.5 tbs batter in each section of the idly stand .
Steam for 8- 10 minutes . Check after 8 minutes with a fork or knife , if it comes out clean then it is done . If not then steam for 2 more minutes .
Cool for 5 minutes and take out all the idlies in a plate .
For tadka , put 1.5 tbs oil in a non stick pan .
When it is hot add 1/2 tsp sesame seeds and 1 green chilly cut in half .
When it crackles , add 7-8 curry leaves . Roast for 2 more minutes on sim gas .
Add idlies . Roast and coat them on both the sides with sesame seeds , curry patta and green chilly .
Tasty healthy filling aloo idly is ready to serve .
