CHANA DAL FARRE [ vedio is at the bottom ]
Chana dal farre is a healthy , steamed wheat flour tea time snack . These days every body wants to avoid the fried food but as fried food is more tasty it is unavoidable most of the time . But this snack is more tasty than any fried dish and it is easy to make . You just need wheatflour and chana dal which is available at home .
COOKING TIME 30 minutes [ 2-3 hours for soaking ] SERVES 4
INGREDIENTS
Chana dal 1/2 CUP
Wheat flour 1 cup , garlic 5 cloves , ginger grated 1small piece , green chilli 1 , salt , red chilli powder , dhaniya powder , oil for roasting 2 tbs , sarson 1 tsp , kadi patta 5
METHOD
- Soak 1/2 cup chana dal for 2-3 hours . Grind it coarsely with garlic cloves [ cut in small pieces ] , ginger grated , 1 green chilli [ cut in small pieces ] without water . Add salt , red chilli pwd , dhaniya pwd .
- Knead dough with 1 cup wheat flour , adding water , salt and 1 tbs oil . Keep it aside for 15 minutes .
- After 15 minutes make small balls of the dough . Roll 1 dough ball oval shape , place 1 . 5 tsp chana dal mixture on the lower half side of the roll . Cover it with the upper half , pressing the corners so that the filling do not come out while boiling .
- Boil water in a kadai or in a pan . When the water starts boiling put all the filled wheat flour pieces in the boiling water . Boil for 10 - 12 minutes .
- Take them out and cool them . After cooling cut each piece into 4-5 pieces .
- For roasting heat 1tbs oil in non stick pan , Put sarson , after 1/2 minute add kadi patta and green chilli . Lasty add cut pieces and roast from both the sides for 5-6 minutes. If you are roasting all the pieces at a time , put 2 tbs oil in the pan .
