EASY KARELA
The karela may not sound interesting but karela is very healthy and it is a summer special . It is slightly bitter in taste but is good f or people with diabetes , heart desease , constipation . It also helps in boasting immune system , weight loss , liver health and many more health benefits so it should be included in our diet . We can make different types of dishes with karela , stuffed , stir fry , pakori and puri . You have many options to try and make it interesting rather than boring bitter vegetable . From the recent study it is found that karela is really miraculous when it comes to fighting two deseases, diabetes and cancer . Today's recipe is simple, easy and tasty . it is cooked with the peels as karela peels are also very healthy and beneficial . If you use onion then 1-2 onion can be cut into thin slices and add them to the karela thin slices while cooking .
COOKING TIME 20 minutes [ to be kept with salt for 1 hour ] SERVES 5
INGREDIENTS
Karela 1/2 kg
salt , red chilli pwd 3/4 tsp , dhaniya pwd 1 tsp , turmeric 1/2 tsp , saunf 1tbs , amchur pwd 1 tsp , garam masala , sarson oil 2 tbs
METHOD
I am cooking with the seeds as they become crunchy after cooking . You can deseed the karela as per choice .
In a kadai put 2 tbs sarson oil, add cummin seeds then add karela with salt , red chilli pwd , dhaniya pwd . Mix well and cover on low gas .
After 5 minutes stir it and again cover , after 5-7 minutes if the karelas are slightly crunchy tender , add pisi saunf , amchur pwd and garam masala . If they are hard , stir once again without adding the amchur , garam masala and sauf . Mix these three when they are done . Store them in fridge for a week . Karelas are good for travelling also .
