Idly is a vegetarian delight. It is part of our healthy eating . But we can not make every time with typical south indian recipe as it is a lengthy process . So suji is the best option as it is most healthy and quick to make and patoto idly is filling and no sambar or chatni is required . I tried many types of idly but potato idly is liked by everybody at home and my friends in Sunday morning chai.
INGREDIENTS
suji 2 cups
curd 1cup
water 1+1/4 cup
salt 1 tsp
eno 1 tsp
POTATO FILLING
2 Boiled potato , 1 tsp sarson or rai , 5 kadi pata , 1/2 tsp haldi , 1/2 tsp salt and 1 tsp oil
METHOD
Mix suji curd salt and water keep aside for 15 minute .
For potato filling .Mash boiled potatoes .
Heat the soucepan Put 1 tsp oil when the oil is hot put sarson , kadi pata .
Put haldi and potato with 1tsp salt in it mix it well for 2 minutes .
Take it off gas Cool it. Make small size tikki of all potato mixture 7 to 8 will be made .
Now if suji batter is thick put little water mix 1 tsp eno in it .
Keep idly stand on gas you can buy the stand on amazon or any utensil shop
Grease the mould with little oil .
Put1 table sp of suji batter in th every mould . Keep patoto tikki in middle of every mould now cover the tikki with more 1 table sp of suji batter .
Steam for 5 to 7 minutes Cool it . After10 minutes take out from moulds with a sharp knife.
You can relish it with any chatni or sauce but if you want to temper. Make tampering like potato tikki.
In 1 tsp oil put kadipatta, 1 tsp sarson , 1 cut green chilli . Off the gas put 1/2 cup water with 1 tsp salt , 1 tsp sugar, 1tsp lemon juice in the tempering , switch on the gas boil the water with the tempering Put this tempering on the idlies with the spoon.
