CHANA DAL IDLY [ vedio is at the bottom ]
Chana dal is a healthy and nutritious dal . Idly mixed with chana dal tastes good and is very easy to make . You can add carrot , bell pepper, cabbage , onion or and y vegetable of your choice in chana dal idly . Otherwise also plain chana dal idly also tastes filling and nutritious .
COOKING TIME 30 minutes [ 1 hour for soaking chana dal ] SERVES 4
INGREDIENTS
Chana dal 1/2 cup [ soak for 1 hour in hot water ]
Suji 2 cups
Curd 2 cups
Carrot 1 grated , salt , oil , sarson , kadi pata , tomato cut in small pieces , eno 1tsp
METHOD
- Soak chana dal for 1 hour in hot water . Strain water after 1 hour .
- Add 2 cups curd to the 2 cups suji . Add water if the batter is thick . Add soaked chana dal and grated 1 carrot . You can add cabbage , onion or any other vegetable to the mixture . If you do not want to add any vegetable , you can make just chana dal idly.
- Make tadka with1 tbs oil and sarson and add to the batter . You can add green chilli cut in small pieces in the tadka .
- Coat idly stand moulds with oil . Add salt and 1 tsp eno at the time of steaming idly . Pour 1 tbs batter in each mould .
- Cut 1 tomato into small pieces and wash kadi pata . Put 1 kadi pata and 1-2 small pieces of tomato in the centre of each mould .
- Steam for 8-10 minutes on high flame . Switch off the gas and let it remain in the mould for 5 -10 minutes .
- Take out from the moulds and seve .
