The YSR Congress Party's demand was that they should resign as Ministers, to work as in-charges
'It is violation of model code of conduct and contrary to the guidelines issued by EC'
YSR Congress Party representatives submitted a representation to Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal on Monday seeking action against the government for deploying Ministers as election in-charges to Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies on behalf of the ruling party.
Party leader Gattu Ramachandra Rao and vice-president K. Shiva Kumar alleged that the ruling party deployed one third of the Council of Ministers to induce voters and bring pressure on the official machinery.
Their demand was that they should resign as Ministers, to work as in-charges as otherwise they would be abusing their power.
Moreover, D.L. Ravindra Reddy and Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, who are contesting the elections, had also not resigned as Ministers, they added.
The YSR Congress also said the announcement of Vanitha Cards to BPL families by Transport Minister Botcha Satyanarayana was in violation of election code.
Such huge deployment of Ministers was nothing but violation of model code of conduct and contrary to the guidelines issued by the Election Commission.
The party also sought special security for Vijayamma and her family members who were campaigning in Pulivendula constituency.
