Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy poses himself as an intellectual, but his ignorance was not exposed as long as he was an MLA or the Speaker. But now that he has become the chief minister and is forced to interact with farmers of various reasons, he is exposing his ignorance rather blatantly.
The other day, Kiran went to inspect the damaged crops in flood-affected areas of East Godavari. The farmers were showing the damaged “pea” (senaga) crop in the alluvial soil, apart from paddy. Instead of simply listening to the problems of farmers, Kiran asked them in how many acres “verusenaga” (groundnut) crop was lost. The farmers were surprised, as there was no groundnut crop there.
Revenue minister N Raghuveera Reddy, who accompanied the chief minister whispered in his ears that groundnut does not grow in Godavari delta, but could be seen only Rayalaseema districts of Anantapur and Chittoor.
Kiran is a city-born person and more so, he is from Rayalaseema. So, he could not have differentiated between Senaga and Verusenaga. But being a chief minister, he should have at least kept quiet, rather than doing over-action.
