YSR Congress leader Ambati Rambabu lambasted Congress MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar on Thursday alleging that he betrayed the trust reposed on him by former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and invited him (Rambabu) for a debate on any TV channel to discuss the Congress high command's attitude towards Y.S. Jaganmohana Reddy.
Reacting to Mr. Kumar's assertion that Mr. Jaganmohan quit Congress on knowing that the high command planned to make his uncle Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy as Chief Minister in 2004, he maintained at a news conference here that the high command never indicated to YSR that he would become Chief Minister before the 2004 polls. He advised Mr. Kumar to state if he was sure of getting ticket in the 2014 elections and alleged that D.L. Ravindra Reddy and Sankara Rao were given Cabinet berths merely for flaying YSR and Jagan.
Flaying the Congress onslaught on YSR and Mr. Jaganmohan, Mr. Rambabu said Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Vundavalli and Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy together cannot wipe out YSR from the people's heart. He dubbed the Chief Minister as the MD of a bankrupt company.
Mr. Rambabu ridiculed the Congress leaders' recent claims that YSR was dearer to them and asked why the APCC failed to disburse Rs. 1 lakh ex gratia announced by it to kin of persons who died after YSR's demise.
