That the Congress party is resorting to witch-hunting of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is evident from the way he was made accused no. 1 in the first information report (FIR) filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation which is probing into his alleged illegal assets.
The CBI could have named Jagan’s companies – Jagathi Publications or Carmel Asia or Bharati Cements as the A-1 in the FIR, but it chose to name Jagan as an individual as the prime accused. Interestingly, it did not mention any other name in the FIR.
All that it said was Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and others as the accused. It means, Jagan is the prime accused and others including his companies and business associates are co-accused.
By singling out Jagan, the CBI wants to establish that Jagan is responsible for all the manipulations and irregularities in the case.
What is more, the sections under which the criminal case was filed are also intimidating: they accuse Jagan of resorting to cheating (section 420 of IPC), criminal conspiracy (section 120-B), prevention of corruption act and prevention of money laundering act etc.
It is obvious that the Congress wants to project Jagan as a cheat and criminal. What do you call it, if not intimidation?
