It appeared to be an emotional movement for jagan who arrived in the district for a Seven-Day tour to console the bereaved families of those people who ended their lives following the death of his father YS Rajasekhar Reddy.
Announcing this at a media conference,Eluru MLA Alla Nani said that Mr. Jagan will cover all the 15 Assembly constituencies during his eight-day marathon tour of nearly 700 km. He would begin from airport, cover Pendurthi, Madugula, Chodavaram, Paderu, Araku, Narsipatnam, Payakaraopeta, Elamanchili,Anakapalle, Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam West, North, South and East, and Bheemunipatnam in that order.
Former Minister Konathala Ramakrishna said the Odarpu Yatra would be beyond party lines. “All are expected to attend like it was when Mr. Jagan began his tours initially.
The only difference now is that he is not with Congress party,” he said.
More than 30,000 people gathered in the airport to greet the Youth Leader Jagan.
He Unveiled the Statue of Late Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in the Naval Armed Depot (NAD) Kotha Road Junction here amidst fanfare and slogans shouting . He was given a rousing welcome I the Airport, Mr Jagan Moahan Reddy kickstarted his Yatra in the District for the first time after he parted ways with the Congress.
Mr Jagan addressed the mammoth gathering here, He said the farmers would be leading a group of like minded MP’s MLA’s and representatives of various Farmers’ Organisations to Delhi, where he would be apprising Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of farmers plight.
Mr Jagan also said that he would also go on Onea-day fast in New Delhi On January 11 to remind the government of the of foarmers problems.
He Claimed that he has no intention to destablise the present AP Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy preparing to face the Assembly elections in 2014.
He further said he has fasttracked the process to register and launch his New political party before the By-elections for Kadapa and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies are announced. Both the seats were vacated by him and his mother Vijayalaxmi after they quit Congress on November 29th Last year.
The anakapalli MP S Hari, former TTD Chairman B Karunakar Reddy, Payakarao peta MLA G Babu Rao and Noted Film Maker and Actor vijayachander were prominently present and participated in Yatra.
Second phase of ‘Odarpu yatra' by former Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy will begin at Payakaraopeta on Tuesday. A large number of leaders and workers from other political parties are likely to join the Jagan group.
The former Kadapa MP, who was buoyed by the success of his New Delhi agitation seeking justice for Andhra Pradesh in the allocation of Krishna waters, would tour the district for five days from January 18 to 22 and would console six families during the period covering 322 km.
MLA G. Baburao has been supporting the Jagan group and wasnot caring the warnings of Congress high command, including the latest on Monday through APCC president D. Srinivas. After reaching Rajahmundry from Hyderabad, Mr. Jagan will drive down to Payakaraopeta to address a public meeting before setting out on the 93-km. yatra on the first day in the Assembly constituency.
He will console two families that of Vedulla Ravikumar at Venkatapuram and Taruturi Apparao at Vakapadu, who lost their lives soon after YSR died in September 2009. Mr. Jagan will conclude his yatra on Jan. 22 in the city by unveiling the statue of YSR at Jagadamba Junction and addressing a meeting in the evening.
