YSR Congress Party on Sunday defended the attack by its workers on Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu during the election campaign in Kadapa, stating that it happened only because of the latter’s unparliamentary language against party candidates Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and Y S Vijayalakshmi.
The YSR Congress leaders submitted a representation to Election Commission authorities, saying Naidu, as part of the election campaigning on Saturday in Komunootala village, had resorted to serious violation code by way of uttering unparliamentary language against the YSR Congress candidates.
“While campaigning, he along with his party cadre, turned violent at one stage and they threatened the voters saying that they will have to face serious consequences if they vote for YSR Congress Party. Naidu also threatened to see their end,” they said.
They quoted Naidu as saying that “I myself am a big rowdy and Neenu mee gundello nidrapota….” Also the contesting candidate B.Tech Ravi started acting in heroic manner and resorted to mischievous actions like curling his moustache etc. He also hurled slippers at voters.
“Seeing all this, the voters got irritated and both the groups started fighting. The TDP party cadre started pelting stones on the voters when they were seen supporting YSR Congress Party. TDP party along with the cadre who came from Anantapur dist. who came with stones etc in their vehicles under the leadership of one Prakash Naidu, incharge for Telugu Yuvata, Anantapur,” they alleged.
