The Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Odarpu Yatra concluded in Prakasam district with his last meeting at Karedu in Kandukur mandal on Tuesday night.Unmindful of the adverse weather conditions, Mr Jagan continued his tour in the district for 36 days and consoled 42 families of victims who died after the demise of his father, Dr Y.S. Rajasekphar Reddy.He touched 619 villages in 56 mandals and unveiled 650 statues of his father. He named 180 children on the request of their parents during his tour.
There were instances when families of the victims consoled him for losing his father. He made it a point to highlight the welfare programmes introduced by Dr YSR and opted for area specific subjects and his fat-her’s services to a particular region. He was visibly happy when people who benefited from the schemes of Dr YSR narrated their stories during the public meetings.The minister for mines, Mr Balineni Srinivasulu Reddy, and Dr YSR’s close relative Mr Y.V. Subba Reddy took upon themselves the responsibility of organising the tour.
The Darsi legislator, Mr Buchepalli Sivaprasad Re-ddy, MLC Mr Jupudi Prabhakar Rao and zilla parishad chairman Ms Katam Arun-amma accompanied Mr Jagan throughout the tour. Legislators who promised to join the yatra before he launched it, abstained, citing high command directions.Mr Jagan was forced to suspend the tour for four days because of an eye infection.
Leaders supporting Mr Jagan have been making arrangements for a grand reception for him when he enters the Nellore district at Rudrakota. Udayagiri legislator Mr Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy, Kovur legislator Mr Nallapareddy Prasannakumar Reddy, former legislators Mr Katamreddy Vishnuvardhan Reddy and Mr Nelavala Subhramanyam, and others will be present to receive Mr Jagan.Nellore MP Mr Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy had already joined the yatra at Kandukur since it is a part of Nellore Parliament constituency.
