Former Union minister of state for steel A. Sai Pratap said that it was not proper to include former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s name in the CBI’s FIR and for newspapers to treat him as a thief adding that it would cause an immense loss to the Congress. In a statement here on Friday, he said that padayatra launched by YSR had brought the Congress into power.
Mr Sai Pratap said that the Congress made YSR the chief minister for bringing the party to power. He said that YSR had provided free power to farmers and now 34 lakh farm connections were getting free power. Mr Sai Pratap said that the YSR didn’t take any action despite farmers using additional power under the scheme. He said that some newspapers had written in 2004 that the state government was in financial doldrums and YSR would not do anything. Mr Sai Pratap said that the former chief minister had implemented several welfare schemes.
