The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) seems to be showing unusual haste in the alleged illegal of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, as if it is the most important of all the cases in the country.
The CBI usually takes several months, if not years, to investigate into any case, whether it is Sohrabuddin encounter case or Satyam Ramalinga Raju case or Telgi fake stamp case.
Even with regard to Obulapuram mining case, the CBI is yet to file the charge sheet. The only case which the CBI completed quickly so far was that of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy helicopter crash case and closed it as an accident.
But in Jagan’s case, the CBI authorities are acting with unusual swiftness. They completed the preliminary investigation within two weeks and now, within a week of getting the High Court order for a full-fledged inquiry, they jumped into fray and began searches on the properties of Jagan and his business associates.
Obviously, the CBI is being driven by the political compulsions. Though the High Court has not set any time frame for the inquiry, the Congress leadership is eager to fix Jagan as early as possible and throw him behind the bars on the lines of Kanimozhi and Raja. It is a different matter that the cases would take a long time to be settled and in the meantime, the Congress would have enough time to project Jagan as the corrupt politician!
