Fresh from electoral success, YSR Congress Party President Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has extended an olive branch to his estranged uncle Y S Vivekananda Reddy who suffered humiliating defeat at the hands of his sister-in-law Y S Vijayamma in Pulivendula by-election.
"If my uncle realizes his mistake at least now, I will be happy to have him back," Jagan remarked in an exclusive interview to Headlines Today, at Idupulapaya estate on Saturday.
When asked about the family battle, Jagan went on to say that he was the first person to have felt bad about the electoral drubbing of his paternal uncle. "After all, the same blood flows in both of us. We are part of a family. I was the first person to feel sorry about his defeat in the election," he said.
The Kadapa MP hoped that his uncle would see through the devious game plan of the Congress to divide the YSR family for its political advantage.
Jagan's offer has put Viveka in a serious dilemma. Earlier, there were reports that a dejected Viveka is toying with the idea of taking "political sanyas". He called on Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday at the latter's camp office and the two leaders were understood to have discussed about the impact of the Kadapa by-poll verdict. The Congress leadership is said to be planning to offer him an MLC seat through Governor's quota and then induct him into the cabinet. He had quit the cabinet before entering the poll fray.
