Sehr geehrter Herr Strässer,

gestatten Sie uns im Namen von „ORGANISATION ZUR WAHRUNG DER MENSCHENRECHTE IN VIETNAM VON VIETNAMESEN IM AUSLAND e.V.“, „FORUM VIETNAM 21, Germany“ und „VETO! HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS´ NETWORK – Deutsche Sektion“, Ihnen unsere herzlichen Glückwünsche zur Ernennung zum Menschenrechtsbeauftragten der Bundesregierung auszusprechen.

Gerade in einer Zeit, in der die Menschenrechte in vielen Ländern mit Füssen getreten werden, braucht die Bundesrepublik Deutschland einen Politiker, der für die Menschenrechte nicht nur im eigenen Land sondern auch global unnachgiebig eintritt. 

Wir möchten Sie auf die Menschenrechtsverletzungen in Vietnam aufmerksam machen.  Dort sind viele Bürger inhaftiert, wurden gefoltert und bedroht, nur weil sie sich für Demokratie und Freiheit sowie Menschenrechte einsetzen.  Das vietnamesische Regime, verstößt damit schwerwiegend gegen seine Rolle  als Mitglied  des UN-Menschenrechtsrates. Im 21. Jahrhundert ist kein Platz mehr für Diktatoren und Despoten, nicht in Vietnam und nirgendwo auf der Welt.

Wir wünschen Ihnen bei der schwierigen und sensiblen Arbeit eine glückliche Hand, eine gehörige Portion von Geduld und viel Erfolg.  

Wenn Sie es wünschen, sind wir gerne bereit, Sie über aktuelle Entwicklungen der Menschenrechtssituation in Vietnam zu  informieren.

Dear Mr. Strässer,

We herewith, on behalf of the “Organization of Overseas Vietnamese for the Protection of Human Rights in Vietnam”, “Veto!, German section” and “Forum Vietnam 21, Germany” would like to express our most sincere congratulations to you for the nomination to the position of Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid in the Federal Government.

With that said, especially at a time when in many countries Human Rights were tramped upon brutally, the Federal Government of Germany is all the more in need of a politician who dares take charge of the mission in an unyielding way, not only in domestic scale but also in a global one.

We also would like to bring to your attention serious Human Rights violations in Vietnam. For, many citizens there have been threatened, put behind bar and even tortured, only because they chose to express themselves in favor of Democracy, Freedom as well as Human Rights. Considering its status as Member in the Human Rights Council at the UN, the Hanoi regime, by that, has committed a gross violation. For the 21st century there should be no room, not any more, for dictators or despotic rulers, be it in Vietnam or elsewhere in the world.

Due to the difficult and sensitive nature in the scope-of-work ahead of you, we would like to wish you all the Luck, lot of Patience and a final Success.

Mr. Commissioner, if you so wish, then we gladly can help with providing necessary information as to actual developments with the current Human Rights situation in Vietnam.
