Pharos Remote
The Basics
Always start by pressing Find Jobs. Pharos Remote does not automatically update, so you must start with Find Jobs to see the most recent activity.
Sort lists by clicking on the desired column header. This will make finding jobs by Alias (user ID), job title, time, etc much easier.
Both the Queued Jobs (spooled jobs) and Printed Jobs (released jobs) queues give the following information:
In the upper pane -- Alias (user ID entered in Pharos popup window), print group, job name, and job status
In the lower pane -- Job Arrival Time (when sent), number of sheets, number of pages, number of copies, job attributes (paper size, simplex/duplex), cost to print
When printing a job for a user, be sure the uncheck the "Charge to User" box in the popup window (otherwise you'll get the error message, "system could not retrieve funds from the database"). Pharos Remote is NOT connected to EmoryCard, so we cannot charge users for printing through Pharos Remote. All printing you do through Pharos Remote will not charge the user.
Queued Jobs vs. Printed Jobs
Queued Jobs = jobs that have been sent to a print group but not yet released
Queued jobs have NOT been charged to the user.
If a user claims a job didn't print, but it's in the Queued Jobs queue only, then the user has not yet released the job. Direct the user to the appropriate release station(s) and offer additional instruction as needed.
Printed Jobs = jobs that have been released
We assume that Printed jobs have been charged to the user
IT'S WORTH REPEATING: BEFORE PRINTING A JOB FOR A PATRON, GET THE FACTS.
In Pharos Remote, first locate the job in either the Queued Jobs or the Printed Jobs queue. Remember: Queued Jobs = patron NOT charged; Printed Jobs = patron charged. Print jobs only for patrons who were charged but whose jobs did not print.
