Modify an account (change to alumni)

Currently, only LSD staff members have the necessary profile to complete the process of changing an account to Alumni. If you are a student assistant or supervisor you will need to ask a staff member to complete this process.

Follow these instructions to:

Switch an account to alumni

Change an expiration date

Allow the patron to select a new password

Update contact information

Add a note to an account

1) Click on the Fulfillment Tab.

2) Under Fulfillment and Checkout/Checkin select Manage Patron Services.

3) Scan Patron ID or Search for Patron.

    • Type in last name, first name

    • Scan ID

    • Type in account/barcode number

4) Click on the ID link.

5) Click on the Toggle Account Type tab to change the account type from External to Internal.

6) Click CONFIRM when Confirmation Message appears.

7) Now, from the General Information tab, you can change the User group to Alumni, extend the Expiration date to one year from now, and ask the patron to set their password. A new password must have at least 8 characters (including at least one upper case letter, one lower case letter, and one numeric digit). Once you have made these changes remember to click on the Save button.

8) Click on the Contact information tab to update the patron's address, phone, and email. Click Actions, then Edit, to make the modifications.

9) Lastly, go to the Notes tab to add a note. Select Add Note on the left hand side. Enter Note comment, type a brief message such as "Patron no longer downloadable. Toggled to Alumni" include your initials and the date in the following format: (UNIV/mj 5/22/2017), leave the User viewable box unchecked. Click Add and Close.

Click Save after each change.

10) If the patron has time, show them how to access their account in discoverE. They need to sign in as an Emory Affiliate now and use their Primary identifier (their old student ID) as their new user name, and the password they just chose as the password.
