We assign individual study rooms and carrels to facilitate research and scholarship activities at Emory University.
Carrels are desks in the stacks that students can reserve for extended use. They do not require a key for entry. Studies are small rooms available in the stacks. They have a door and require a key for entry. Application for either an individual study or a carrel is made by filling out an online form found on the Individual Study Rooms and Carrels website. Once completed, an assignment will be made. Then, for studies, the patron will pick up their key at the LSD. The keys are found in the small gold filing cabinet under "STUDIES KEYS FOR PICKUP". The patron's name will be on the envelope containing the key to their study.
Also, please remember that any patron wishing to keep library books in their carrel must check out the book and insert a pink Carrel Charge Slip in the book. The Carrel Charge Slips are also found in the small gold filing cabinet at the supervisor's desk. Studies do not require Carrel Charge Slips.
Any questions or complaints that people have regarding their study or carrel can be sent to carrels-studies@listserv.cc.emory.edu. This information is given to them in the email that lets them know that they have a carrel or study.
