49.4 CO2 Service Error

What it means: A user has released a job that the printer cannot process (often it's a PDF created in an old, outdated version of Adobe).

IMPORTANT: If one printer in the queue can't process the job, none of them can. If the user attempts to release the job at another printer (or if you reprint the job through Pharos Remote to another printer), that new printer will also be put into an error state and will be unusable. DO NOT REPRINT JOBS CAUSING 49.4 CO2 ERRORS FROM THE PRINTED QUEUE IN PHAROS.

What to do instead:

  1. Delete the job from the printer using the printer's own menu. If necessary, also restart the printer.

  2. Instruct the user to create a new file from the old file by using the "Save As" feature in Acrobat or the "Export As" feature in Preview. The user can then send this new file, and you can print the NEW FILE for them from the Pharos Remote QUEUED JOBS queue.

If that doesn't work and the printer remains in an error state:

  1. Turn off the release station monitor and put up an "Out of Order" sign on it.

  2. Email to eagleprint@emory.edu with the subject line "LC: <printer name> has error <error number>". Restate this information in the body of the email, along with any additional details.

Please note: any other jobs released at that printer while it's in an error state will charge the user but will not print. It is important that you prevent other users from releasing jobs at printers with service errors by turning off them off and posting an out of order sign.
