SUPERVISORS: Remote Access for Emory Retirees

Library Databases and electronic resources are licensed for current students, faculty, and staff. It is not licensed for retirees or alumni. Thus retirees or alumni need to come to the library to be signed onto one of the learning commons computers right by the Library Service Desk. If the person is a faculty who has been given "emeritus" status, their login should continue to give them remote access. A person with emeritus status is one whom the University has decided that their contribution to the university has been so great that they will continue to have access as if still in the employ of the university.

Faculty often think that if they are retired they are emeritus, but it is not an automatic assignment. If a person claims to be emeritus and is having trouble accessing the databases remotely, pass this person onto me, Kendra Skellen. I will then check the spreadsheet to find if they indeed are emeritus. I will then direct them as to their next steps, determined by whether they are on the emeritus list or not.
