NEW: Update to dress code

With the summer almost here, we have updated the dress code to make sure everyone is on the same page. Please review the guidelines below and let us know if you have any questions.

Service Desk Dress Code Guidelines

All clothing should be professional, comfortable, and flexible. Shorts and skirts should be an appropriate length (please no short shorts or miniskirts!), and shirts should cover the midsection. If you wear see-thru clothing, wear something underneath in addition. Footwear should also be appropriate for a job of constant movement. Do not take your shoes off while working.

Following are some helpful hints:

1. Casual does not mean sloppy. Clothing should be clean, pressed or wrinkle free and without holes or frayed areas.

2. Keep the focus on the quality of work. Avoid clothing that is too revealing or tight-fitting.

3. Shoes Matter. If your work involves the chance of dropping books, you are encouraged to wear closed toed shoes to protect your toes.

4. When in doubt, leave it out. If there is any question in your mind as to whether the article of clothing is acceptable, then don’t wear it until you have checked with your supervisor.

Here is a list of Don’t Wear:

• Unpressed (wrinkled) garments

• Anything with inappropriate wording

• Beachwear

• Miniskirts / short shorts (Use the fingertip rule, if it is shorter than your fingertips than it is too short for work)

• Halter/tube tops or sports bras

• Strapless, back-less or low cut tops

• Any clothing that is ripped or torn or dirty

• Any clothing that reveals the midriff

• Hats (of any kind)

• Clothing that shows your undergarments

• Leggings without an appropriate length top (covering your derriere)
