We are seeing a number of issues with students attempting to print PowerPoint presentations via MyPrintCenter. While uploading a PPTX file can be convenient, PowerPoint is made to be a presentation software, and not good for direct printing.
PowerPoint files uploaded directly to MyPrintCenter will have the paper size set as "Executive" instead of "Letter". When these files are released to a printer, the printer will show a prompt asking the user to supply the "Executive" paper or select another paper tray.
Recommended workarounds:
Users save/export PowerPoint files as a PDF and upload the PDF to MyPrintCenter. This way, they get both, the option to modify how the slides are arranged on each page, and the PDF file will have the "Letter" paper size applied (unless this is specifically changed by the user).
Use the installed print queues found at software.emory.edu to send the PPTX file with print options defined and sent via the Pharos Popup app (i.e. the way it was always done before MyPrintCenter)
If someone has already experienced this issue, and has been charged, Ask them to resubmit the file using one of the two workarounds listed above, and then use Pharos Remote to release the print job without charging the user. You can also simply reprint the file from the "Printed Jobs" list in Pharos Remote, but be ready to respond to the prompt that will show up on the printer.
Please let me know if you need any clarification regarding what I have explained above.
