Food procedures for Student Workers

The Summer student worker food cards are now being processed.

In an effort to accommodate the student workers who may need to bring food that is normally not permitted in the library we have instituted a working solution. This solution will allow the student to bring in food in appropriate containers that will then be consumed in their work space or assigned break areas, and not out in the public floor of the library. A student identification card will be issued to the student workers by their supervisor.

 At the beginning of each new term (fall, spring, summer), LITS HR will provide the student supervisors with new cards with the following information:

o Department

o Expiration Date (start of next term)

 The student supervisors will determine which of their students might need this card.

o Students working long shift, or over a meal break might need a card.

o Students working a short shift may not need the card.

 The student supervisor neatly prints the student’s name in the space provided.

 Student supervisors hand card to appropriate students.

 Cards are returned to the student supervisor upon expiration date or upon the end of term.

Upon entering the library, the student will have the card out and ready if they are bringing in a type of food that is normally prohibited. Security will be checking the card and reserves the right to ask for photo ID (EmoryCard) for verification.

 If the student has forgotten the card, they will not be permitted to bring in prohibited food items.

 Cards are not transferable between students.

 If there is any tampering on the card, the card will be considered a forgery and confiscated by security. Security will report the violation to the student’s supervisor.
