Hi,
I just spent 30 minutes on the phone at the reference desk with a very angry professor with reserves, grants, articles, and syllabus deadlines pending. Here's what you can offer your faculty and anyone at the Service desks, which is a lot. Librarians have lots of workarounds so don't turn anyone away.
Ask reference librarian to take over the conversation or email your subject librarian for personalized help. If person's librarian is on vacation you can email Kristan kmajors@emory.edu and I will answer it or try to find a colleague that can.
Use full-text databases to get the journals: JSTOR, Academic Search Complete, etc.
Alma and Worldcat for call numbers and titles
rush ILL for things we own but can't access because of these problems
Finding aids and Research guides with links to free collections elsewhere
Go to google and search "databases at Emory" or "ejournals at Emory" because these links seem to work when from our site seems to break.
I sent emails to all my departments this morning with specific pids for databases I know they need. If you can get some pids I suggest sending them since databases seem to be sporadic too.
Alex and Clare are going to add a notice to DiscoE announcing the problem too but only works when DiscoE is working. . .
