1. User will need a Thunderbolt Cable to connect the laptop to the iMac.
2. Power down the laptop
3. Restart the laptop while holding down the T key
4. Release the T when you see the Thunderbolt icon on the laptop's screen (you will now see the laptop's HD on the iMac's desktop)
5. Open the laptop's HD and the iMac's HD
6. Select all the files you wish to transfer from the iMac and copy them
Note: for iMovie projects, you must copy ALL files (Movies, Music, Pictures, Downloads, etc) used in the making of the project
7. Paste the files to the laptop's HD
IMPORTANT: Do NOT drag and drop folders from the iMac to the laptop. Doing so will replace the laptop's folder contents with that of the iMac, deleting forever all the user's previously saved files. Always copy and paste.​
8. When you have all files copied, right-click on the laptop HD and eject it. Disconnect the devices.
